Art Nouveau
This art time period began in 1890 and lasted until 1905. Art Nouveau means "the new art." It was also known as the Giasgow Style of art and was meant to be a modern design to get away from the eclectic historical styles. It uses both geometric and organic forms. This type of art was mostly focused on design and architecture. A lot of the peices also resemble Japanese-style wood block prints. Some of the key artist during this time include: Aurthur Heygate Mackmurdo, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Gustav Klimt. Some of the most famous pieces during this time include: "Wren's City Churches," painted by Aurthur, "La Goulue at the Moulin Rouge," painted by Henri, and "Hope ll," painted by Gustav.
