Impressionism
The Impressionist art time period began around 1854. These paintings were realist styles of French paintings that used lighter brush strokes and brighter colors. They didn't include as much detail but instead more broad landscape pictures. Their paintings showed shadows and highlights in color. It is said to be a more casual art style. Claude Monet and Edgar Degas were two of the founders of this time period as well as important artist. Some of their important pieces include, "Impression, Sunrise," by Claude Monet and "The Dance Class," by Edgar Degas.
